Pair of Baldwin Brass Gimbal Sconce Candleholder

Beautiful solid forged brass ship's gimbal sconce by Baldwin! A gimbal sconce was originally used on ships, where it could be hung on a wall or used on a tabletop. As the ship swayed, the hinged candleholder also sways, insuring that the candle stays in the upright position - ingenious! This is a wonderful piece for either table or wall and is in excellent condition.

Sitting on a table, the sconce measures just over 7" high and the round cupped base measures 6 1/8" in diameter. When hung on a wall, the projection is 5 1/4".
